Volcanic Eruption Under the Eyjafjallajökull Glacier

A friend of mine in Iceland posted this image on Facebook. What an incredible photo of a very tumultuous event both in Iceland and for air travelers across the Atlantic.

Funny, two Icelandic friends of mine posted the exact same photo...it's truly amazing. Though, to be quite honest, surprising it didn't happen sooner. We spent 3 years thinking "the big one" could come at any time...then we left, the economy collapsed and the volcano erupted...go figure!

:) You must have been Iceland's lucky charm.

Heard it was a beautiful (but cold!) country, and hope it recovers soon.

Oh, it is absolutely stunning. On cold, clear nights we saw the Northern Lights from our front porch, and the landscapes were incredible. The waterfalls, the green areas, Geysir and Gullfoss...

If you have a chance to get there soon, I highly recommend it. Even a few days will be unforgettable, and right now the exchange rate is very good for those using the dollar.

Oh, and yes, cold...think it went into the 70s a few days while we were there, not much more than that.

Good luck with your move!
