Our Mighty Mazda: Transfering the Lease
After the birth of Sicily and a few tries to get the entire family safely in the Toyota Echo, we decided to get a new and at least medium-sized vehicle. The result of our research was choosing a Mazda 5, a really great car for a family in the Washington D.C. area.
We decided on a lease for a number of reasons and now find ourselves with about 10 months left after our departure date. The solution is to transfer the lease to someone else.
After researching the process, it is also a great option for getting a car in the short term, like the next time we are in DC for training.
Some sites to find a lease include: swapalease.com and leasetrader.com

Can I ask where you leased your car from? I'm looking for a mazda5 -- though I need more than 10 months.
We leased ours from Ourismon Mazda in Maryland originally for two years and had to transfer to someone else for our remaining 10 months.
Driving to FSI on a regular basis, I would often see at least 5 new Mazda 5s at the Mazda dealer on Glebe road right next to the Ballston mall. They most likely would also be able to lease and it is very convenient to FSI.
The Mazda 5 is a very popular car right now, so I would guess that they would less likely pop up on the lease trading sites.
When we go back to FSI after our post in Kolkata, we will also explore buying a used car from CarMax and reselling back to CarMax prior to leaving.
Let me know how it goes!
I wish we thought of the leasing option... Maybe next time we come back, we'll do. We're in FS as well.
